- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, cold
- 1 1/4 cups cold milk
- 1 egg, for egg wash
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cold milk and mix until just combined.
- Knead the dough gently and shape it into a rectangle.
- Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough out into a large rectangle, fold, and refrigerate again.
