Jamie Oliver’s Shakshuka Recipe

This Shakshuka recipe combines fresh ingredients and turkey bacon for a delicious and healthy twist on the traditional dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the turkey bacon in a large skillet until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add olive oil to the skillet and sauté the onions and bell peppers until soft.
  3. Stir in the garlic, cumin, and paprika, cooking for another minute.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Make small wells in the sauce and crack an egg into each well.
  6. Cover and cook until the eggs are set, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Serve garnished with parsley and the crispy turkey bacon.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add some chili flakes.
  • This dish can be served with crusty bread.
