Passion Fruit Créme Brûlée

Indulge in the creaminess of passion fruit crème brûlée, a dessert that perfectly balances sweetness and tartness.

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup passion fruit puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine cream, milk, and passion fruit puree, heating until just under a boil.
  3. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Slowly add the hot cream mixture to the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  6. Pour the mixture into ramekins and place them in a baking dish.
  7. Fill the baking dish with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  8. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is slightly jiggly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  10. Before serving, sprinkle brown sugar on top and caramelize with a torch or broil until golden brown.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh passion fruit puree.
  • Let the brûlée sit in the fridge overnight for enhanced flavor.
